About Debra Brokaw
I’m Debra Brokaw. I’ve been married to my best friend, Chris, for 23 years, and we’re raising five kids. Life is busy in the best way. Outside of work, I love gardening, the lake, and a quiet porch moment when I can get one. You’ll also find us on the sidelines at games and meets, cheering for our kids and rooting for the Cubs and the Hawkeyes.

Professional Journey:
My career in education began in 2001 as a classroom teacher. In 2007, I transitioned into school counseling, working with students, educators, and families in both rural and urban communities across K-12, primarily at the middle and high school levels. After years in schools, I moved into a statewide consulting role at the Area Education Agency (AEA), where I spent four years coaching and supporting school counselor leaders and teams.
Today, through Debra Brokaw Consulting, I help districts strengthen comprehensive school counseling programs by aligning counseling goals to district priorities, ASCA Student Standards, and data. My work is grounded in connection, clear systems, and measurable impact for students.
